About Dr. Margarita Mercado Medina, MD

Dr. Margarita Mercado Medina, MD holds dual board certification in obesity medicine and obstetrics and gynecology. Joining Inclusa Health and Wellness from the Seattle branch, she provides superb medical management of obesity and its related chronic health conditions. Dr. Mercado especially enjoys providing care to women with peri and post menopausal weight management. 

Dr. Mercado is bilingual in Spanish. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, she the received her Medical Degree at the Instituto Tecnologico de Santo Domingo. She then moved to NYC where she trained at Winthrop /NYU University Hospital and practiced in Obstetrics and Gynecology for 15 years at different academic centers. Looking for a change in lifestyle, she then moved to Denver, then 3 years after to Washington where she also works as an OBGYN hospitalist part time at multiple facilities in the Seattle area.  

During her career, she has held academic appointments at Columbia University, Albert Einstein School of Medicine, University of Colorado and University of Washington. 

Facing her own struggles with weight management she took it upon herself to undergo extra training in order to understand and properly treat the medical condition of obesity. Her goal is to improve her patients’ overall health and quality of life. 

When she’s not taking care of patients, she enjoys working out, walking her dog, traveling, cooking, and watching history and science documentaries.
